Special Session: Managing Happiness

Description of the event

This session was held by Ken Harmon, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Harmon will describe the results of research on happiness and apply practical principles to everyday life.  Additionally, he will describe how managers can use a better understanding of happiness to create a positive corporate culture, generate higher productivity, and actually improve profits.

70 HR professionals, specialists and managers from companies such as Unicredit Leasing, KPMG, IBM, Bank of Cyprus, Romtelecom, JT International.

Dr. Ken Harmon has served as dean of Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business, the second largest business school in Georgia, since July 2009 and is currently serving as Interim Provost and Vice President for KSU. Harmon, the Dinos Eminent Scholar Chair of Entrepreneurial Management and a professor of accounting, has served on the faculty of seven business schools across the United States and has held administrative appointments at five of those institutions.

A native of Memphis, Harmon holds a doctorate in accounting from the University of Tennessee.  He also has received certificates from the Center for Creative Leadership, Leadership Cobb, and Dale Carnegie courses in human relations and public speaking.  His areas of expertise include leadership, corporate culture, information systems, and strategy.  He previously was an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers, was president of his own software company, and has served as a consultant to numerous companies and universities. Harmon has been a journal editor, authored numerous publications and served on 10 editorial boards.  He also currently sits on advisory boards at academic institutions in India and Turkey and is a board member at the Henssler Financial Group.

Kennesaw State University offers an Executive MBA program in Romania in partnership with ASEBUSS Business School.
